Kelsey O’Brien
Clinical Psychologist (BA(Law/PsychSci), GradDip(Psych), MAClincalPsych)
I am a Clinical Psychologist with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. I have a particular interest in working with children, adolescents and young adults who present with a range of challenges which may include anxiety, depression, performance related stress, Autism Spectrum Disorder/other neurodevelopmental disorders, low-self esteem/confidence related issues and childhood trauma. In addition, I have experience and interest in working with parents who are facing challenges managing the demands of parenthood and also those individuals who have been impacted by family violence. I have experience in a range of therapeutic modalities and I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have also completed professional development in areas of sensorimotor interventions for children and synergetic play therapy. I engage in a dynamic, open and playful style of therapy that allows children and adolescents to feel comfortable in the therapeutic space. My approach draws upon multiple evidence-based interventions to suit my client’s unique presentation. I believe in the unique potential of everyone I work with, and feel honoured to support individuals in increasing their understanding of themselves to carve out a future that is bright and meaningful for them. I have spent the majority of my life in regional Victoria and therefore, am aware of the unique challenges facing individuals in rural and regional settings. I feel passionately about the rights of people to access quality psychological supports regardless of socio-economic status or location.
